Floor superspeed cartridge

CentrivaLab 50/34

CentrivaLab 50/34 cartridge cross-section, annotated with rotation axis and r_m / r_max

Configuration for 50 mL tube workflows and fixed-angle rotor classes around 34°, intended for NF, RO and OSN membrane screening.

CentrivaLab 94/25

CentrivaLab 94/25 cartridge cross-section, annotated with rotation axis and r_s / r_m / r_max

Configuration for larger working volumes and fixed-angle rotor classes around 25°. The 94 mL designation refers to the centrifuge tube (rotor bucket) capacity, not the feed volume.

Operating envelope — choose your CentrivaLab

The two CentrivaLab families cover complementary regions of the NF/RO/OSN screening envelope and target different centrifuge ecosystems already common in membrane laboratories.

Tube class 94 mL or 100 mL round-bottom 50 mL round-bottom
Rotor angle ~25° ~34°
Typical operating point 6 cartridges per run, up to ~40 bar at ~15 000 rpm 8 cartridges per run, up to ~60 bar at ~20 000 rpm
High-pressure mode 4 cartridges per run, up to ~60 bar at ~20 000 rpm (with a 4-tube rotor, e.g. Sigma 12155)
Centrifuge class Benchtop high-speed Floor superspeed
Compatible instruments (examples) Sigma 3-30KS; Thermo Sorvall ST 16R / ST 40R / Legend XT (with FiberLite F15-6×100y rotor); Multifuge X1 Pro Beckman Avanti J series (rotor JA-20); Thermo Sorvall RC-5/RC-6 (rotor SS-34); Thermo Sorvall Lynx 4000/6000 (rotor Fiberlite F21-8×50y)
Capex tier of compatible centrifuges Lower Higher

Choose CentrivaLab 94/25 if your screening operates up to ~40 bar (covering NF and most RO conditions) and you want to use the benchtop high-speed centrifuge already common in membrane laboratories. The 94/25 also reaches ~60 bar in high-pressure mode with a 4-tube rotor.

Choose CentrivaLab 50/34 if your campaign requires sustained operation at 50–60 bar with high parallelism (8 cartridges per run), and a floor superspeed instrument (Avanti J, Sorvall RC or Lynx) is available.

Product detail

CentrivaLab cartridge

The cartridge houses a flat membrane disc (20 mm outer diameter, 1.45 cm² effective filtration area). After centrifugation, retentate and permeate are collected separately for analysis. The numbered cap system ensures sample tracking across parallel experiments.

Construction materials

Cartridge bodies are available in different engineering materials depending on the chemical compatibility required by the application.

Acrylic resin

Standard option for aqueous NF and RO applications. Suitable for most laboratory membrane screening workflows.

PEEK / PAEK

Recommended for organic solvent nanofiltration (OSN) applications requiring resistance to a broad range of organic solvents.

PPS

Alternative high-performance polymer for solvent-oriented workflows where PEEK/PAEK compatibility needs to be confirmed case by case.
